I spent 10 years as Deputy Director of Technical Theatre at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Prior to that I was a Production Manager in regional theatre.
I joined the PMF Committee in 2018, as I had some spare time to be able to devote to its administration and development, and thereby support my fellow PMs.
I was Production Manager at Derby Playhouse for more than 10 years, and before that at the Mercury Theatre Colchester, and RADA. After training at LAMDA, I started my theatre career in the stage department at Birmingham Rep, soon becoming Technical Stage Manager.
I was a founder member of EMPM (East Midlands Production Managers), an early forerunner of PMF, a support network for building-based Production Managers across the Midlands.
After retiring early (through my own choice) in 2007, I lived in France for 12 years where I was a local councillor, and designed and maintained a website for my village. I also undertook a Health and Safety consultancy at Resorts World in Singapore. I came back to the UK in 2019.
My book, Production Management – Making Shows Happen – A Practical Guide, was published by Crowood Press in 2002.
