Production Managers Forum PMF PIP ROBINSON

I am freelance Production Manager.

Until Recently, I worked for the O2 Arena as Deputy Production Manager where I was responsible for the Technical management of the arena and its assets for major touring events and productions. In theatre, I was previously engaged as Production Manger for the Marlowe Theatre and Battersea Arts Centre.

I trained at Wimbledon College of Art, UAL in Set Design for Stage and Screen, graduating in 2013. I had success in my early career working in TV and Film as Art department although I quickly discovered a greater passion for managing projects with a more hollistic approach and began exploring Production Management as a career.

I segwayed from Set Design for Theatre into Production Mangement by specialising in Draughting for entertainment. From 2013 – 2016 I worked as a Junior Draughtsperson, working for the National Theatre and other construction company drawing departments. I went on to freelancing in the Off-West End theatre scene and from there I worked for the BAC, O2 Arena and Marlowe Theatre in full time management roles.

In 2015, when deciding to embark on a freelance career in Production Management, I tried to find associated industry groups or orgainsations that I could join. Sadly, there was little to no formalised groups to be found that could offer me the support or information I was looking for.  Following a year of developing my own research into creating a new organisation, I had a chance meeting with David Evans at the ABTT Theatre show. David was looking to achieve the same goal so we decided to pool our energy and build something together. The following Summer we relaunched the PMF at the 2017 ABTT with the help of many fellow production managers adding their expertiese to the project. Since its inception, the PMF has grown into a strong team of 12 comitteed Production and Technical Managers, all giving up their free time to create a supportive network for all of our industry to share in.
